Job Title: Paid Medical Escort (As Needed/Pro Re Nata/PRN)

Work Schedule: As Needed, On Call

Compensation: $20.00/hour plus mileage

Position Description: Work closely with JFS staff to assist and empower older adults by preparing them for medical appointments, escorting them to medical appointments, facilitating communication with medical staff and offering emotional support. No experience needed, ongoing training provided. Great opportunity for stay-at-home parents with daytime availability, Uber / Lyft drivers, and individuals looking to gain experience working with older adults, particularly in medical settings.

Clients: Older adults that need assistance and live in Framingham, Natick and surrounding towns.

Service area: Medical appointments take place in locations throughout Metrowest and in Boston and Worcester.

Time Commitment: On-call Mon-Fri for appointments scheduled during regular business hours; must have weekday/daytime availability. Assignments are typically 2-6 hours each. Be available on short notice (1-2 days). Typical assignment frequency is 1-4 assignments/month.

Qualifications:

  • Caring and compassionate.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to drive and has own vehicle in good condition.
  • Must have safe driving record.
  • CORI, RMV and references check.
  • Access to computer and/or email.
  • Interest in working with older adults and comfortable in medical settings a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to accept supervision and turn in required reports in a timely fashion.
  • Willingness to transport clients to appointments in Boston and Worcester as needed.
  • Individuals that are bi-lingual in Chinese Mandarin/English and Russian/English are encouraged to apply.

Training: Comprehensive, ongoing training provided.
