“I have been part of the JFS family since 2017; first as an AmeriCorps Service Member, then as a staff member, and now as an MSW student intern! JFS programming is rooted in community and places a strong emphasis on promoting opportunities and breaking down systemic barriers for marginalized groups. I am especially passionate about supporting members of the immigrant community and other underserved groups. It is rewarding to work with these individuals and families and to support them in harnessing their strengths and resilience. Through my work at JFS, I get to feel like I am part of my community and of something larger than just myself.”

My name is Marleigh and I am from the beach town of Hampton, New Hampshire! I speak English and am always trying to improve my Spanish speaking skills! I recently graduated from Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland with a Global Studies degree and minor in sociology, and am currently enrolled in Boston College working to get my Masters in Social Work. The past few years I have been involved with Soccer Without Borders, which is a program for refugees and asylees in elementary school to high school. I absolutely loved my experiences there and it has motivated me to move forward with social work. Two fun facts about myself are I love to sing and I studied abroad in Athens, Greece!”

“I believe the work that I will be doing at JFS is important because not only will I be able to help others, but I will be gaining new experiences and broadening my perspective of society. I think that meeting new people and helping others brings positive change to not only those within the organization but also within oneself.”
