On Wednesday, June 3 at 7:00 PM, Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland will welcome Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Metrowest CEO Lino Covarrubias as the featured speaker for its annual David Passer Social Justice Lecture.

Held each spring, the lecture honors the memory and legacy of David Passer, Temple Shir Tikva’s beloved former Executive Director, whose leadership and advocacy left a lasting impact on the congregation and broader Jewish community. Alongside his husband, Marc Maxwell, Passer was a pioneer of LGBTQ+ inclusion in Jewish life and a passionate advocate for social justice.

The annual lecture series was established to continue Passer’s commitment to community engagement, compassion, and advocacy for vulnerable populations.

As CEO of JFS of Metrowest, Mr. Covarrubias leads an organization serving more than 8,000 individuals and families throughout the region. Under his leadership, JFS provides critical supports to vulnerable children and families, immigrants (including refugees and asylum seekers), U.S. veterans, and older adults aging in place.

Drawing from his experience leading one of the region’s most impactful human service organizations, Mr. Covarrubias will speak about the challenges facing communities today and the importance of collective responsibility in supporting those most in need.

The event is open to the community and offers an opportunity for meaningful reflection and conversation around social justice, compassion, and communal care.
