JFS of Metrowest is deeply grateful to the Herbert and Esther Atkinson Fund of the Community Foundation for MetroWest for its generous grant of $5,000 in support of the Lucy and Joe Press Food Pantry. This meaningful gift comes at a critical time, as rising food prices continue to place enormous financial pressure on individuals and families throughout our community.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Herbert and Esther Atkinson Fund for recommending this grant and to the Community Foundation for MetroWest for approving this important investment in our mission.

Established in 2006, the Lucy and Joe Press Food Pantry provides emergency food assistance to frail older adults and families facing financial hardship. As part of the JFS Family Assistance Network, the pantry does more than provide nutritious food—it serves as a gateway to case management, community resources, and support that helps people move from crisis toward greater stability.

This grant is especially timely as grocery costs continue to rise, making it increasingly difficult for many older adults living on fixed incomes to afford healthy, nutritious food. At JFS of Metrowest, supporting older adults is one of our highest priorities, and gifts like this help ensure our most vulnerable neighbors can maintain their health, dignity, and independence while accessing the food they need.

Community partnerships and philanthropic support make this work possible. We are honored by the confidence the Herbert and Esther Atkinson Fund of the Community Foundation for MetroWest has placed in JFS and thankful for its commitment to addressing food insecurity in our community.

Help Fight Food Insecurity

The need for emergency food assistance continues to grow, and every gift makes a difference. If you would like to help ensure that older adults and families in our community have access to nutritious food and compassionate support during difficult times, please consider making a donation to the JFS Lucy and Joe Press Food Pantry.

Together, we can help our neighbors put food on the table and build a stronger, more caring community.
