Featured Speaker: Michael L. Tichnor
Michael L. Tichnor served as American Jewish Committee’s National President from 2022-2025 and is currently Chair of AJC’s Transatlantic Institute. Over the previous 20 years, he served AJC nationally on its Board of Governors, its Executive Council as Chair of Regional Offices, Chair of Leadership Development, and as Chair of its Strategic Assessment Task Force. Tichnor began his involvement with AJC serving as New England Regional President and continues as a member of its steering committee.
Professionally, Tichnor has been a Boston-based entrepreneur. He was founder and president of Tichnor Properties, Inc., a privately held commercial and industrial real estate company located in southern New England. In addition to other ventures, he was previously a principal and of counsel to a family held leading national consumer paper products company. Currently, he is a private investor.
Tichnor has been involved with many organizations in the Boston Jewish Community, including Combined Jewish Philanthropies and Congregation Or Atid as one of its founders, first president and trustee, and has been active in organizations that raise awareness of the increased cancer risks caused by genetic defects amongst Ashkenazi Jews. He has additionally served as an elected member of the Wayland Select Board, having been elected twice as its chair, and was also a member of the town’s Finance Committee. For their work in the community and commitment to social justice, Tichnor and his wife Karen were honored at the JFS of Metrowest Seize the Dream celebration in 2015.
An attorney, Tichnor received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his law degree from Boston College Law School. He is married to Karen, a retired special needs teacher who is a former JFS board member. They have three married children and eight grandchildren.
Introducing Incoming Board President: Ian Rubin, MBA
Ian Rubin has been a JFS board member since 2014 and an officer since 2016. He served as co-chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee for five years.
In addition to his role at JFS, Ian is a Trustee and Director of Middlesex Savings Bank, where he has been actively involved in the Audit, Risk Oversight, and Governance Committees.
Ian has also served as a board member of several community organizations, including Congregation Or Atid, the Wayland High School Faculty Grant Committee, and the Brandeis University Boston Alumni Association.
Professionally, Ian is a Client Partner in the financial services division of Kantar, a research and consulting firm specializing in marketing data and analytics. He helps clients define brand strategies, build strong brands, and measure brand performance. With over 20 years of experience in banking and payments, he has worked as a market analyst, consultant, and business leader.
Ian holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA from Brandeis University. He and his wife, Maggie, reside in Wayland and are proud parents of three adult daughters.
