On Sunday, January 18, the MetroWest community will come together at Temple Beth Am for a meaningful MLK Day of Service, organized in partnership with JLoft. This annual day of action honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by turning values into impact—through hands-on service, learning, and community connection.

Volunteering at the MetroWest MLK Day of Service is open to everyone and is especially welcoming for teens and families with school-age children. Teens may attend independently, while children age 13 and under should be accompanied by an adult. No prior experience or special skills are needed—just a willingness to show up and help.

Throughout the day, volunteers will take part in a variety of projects that support local families and organizations, including:

  • Making lasagnas

  • Baking banana bread

  • Building desks and bookshelves

  • Assembling soup jars

  • And more!

The event is free, but advance registration is required.

Be a Crew Member

J-LOFT and Volunteer Ventures teens, parents, and friends are also invited to step into leadership roles by joining the event crew. Crew members play a vital role in making the day run smoothly by:

  • Helping prepare for the event

  • Leading volunteer groups in baking and building activities

  • Running the kitchen, activity “shops,” registration, and info tables

  • Packing finished goods and preparing them for delivery
