We’re proud to share a recent feature published on JewishBoston.com highlighting how the MetroWest community came together this holiday season to support families through compassion, partnership, and hands-on volunteerism.

Over the past several months, volunteers from congregations, schools, businesses, and community groups stepped forward in extraordinary ways — collecting winter coats, organizing food drives, sorting clothing, preparing distributions, and delivering gifts and essentials to families facing hardship. Their collective efforts transformed generosity into direct impact for children, caregivers, and individuals across our region.

At the center of much of this work is the JFS/FPS Resource Room, a free, dignified community space created in partnership with Framingham Public Schools. The Resource Room provides clothing, shoes, and basic essentials to families who need extra support. In just the past two months alone, dozens of individuals received direct assistance there, with many more reached through special winter gear and backpack distribution events. Additional pop-up distribution days and expanded services are continuing into the new year, supported by dedicated volunteers and community partners — including a new dry cleaner partner helping ensure donated winter coats are freshly laundered and ready for families.

The holiday season also brought special joy to children. Through generous partnerships with holiday gift programs and donors, more than 100 children connected to JFS programs received holiday gifts — reminders that they are seen, remembered, and celebrated.

This work would not be possible without the incredible network of partners who stood together to respond to rising needs. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every congregation, volunteer team, school group, youth organization, business partner, foundation supporter, and individual donor who helped make the season brighter. Your compassion and action brought warmth, dignity, and hope to so many.
