JFS volunteers distribute nutritious meals to older adult residents
of the Framingham Housing Authority.
On Friday, June 26, Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Metrowest’s Mobile Food Pantry once again delivered nourishment, dignity, and community to older adults living in the Framingham Housing Authority public housing sites.
Residents received fresh meals prepared by Heart To Home Meals, along with shelf-stable groceries and an abundant assortment of breads and pastries donated by BJ’s Wholesale Club. The distribution is part of JFS’s ongoing commitment to reducing food insecurity among older adults and other low-income residents throughout MetroWest.
For many older adults living on fixed incomes, putting healthy food on the table has become increasingly difficult. Rising grocery prices, higher housing and utility costs, and reductions in federal nutrition supports such as SNAP have placed tremendous strain on household budgets. Too many seniors are forced to make impossible choices between purchasing food, filling prescriptions, paying rent, or keeping the lights on.
The JFS Mobile Food Pantry helps bridge that gap by bringing nutritious food directly into neighborhoods where transportation, mobility limitations, and financial hardship can make grocery shopping especially challenging.

Residents received a variety of healthy low-sodium meals which allowed them to
save their limited resources for other necessities.
Earlier this month, JFS also participated in the Framingham Adult Resource Fair, where staff and volunteers served lunch while distributing groceries and essential supplies to low-income adults in need while connecting participants with community resources and supportive services.
These efforts are possible because of the generosity of dedicated community partners and funders. JFS extends its sincere gratitude to MetroWest Health Foundation, Sincere Foundation, BJ’s Wholesale Club, HTHM LLC, and the many additional food donors, volunteers, and supporters whose contributions make these distributions possible.
Together, we are helping ensure that our neighbors can age with dignity, maintain their health, and experience the security of knowing that nutritious food is available when they need it most.
As economic pressures continue to mount, JFS remains committed to expanding access to healthy food and meeting people where they are—because no older adult should have to worry about where their next meal will come from.
Help us continue to bring nutritious food, dignity, and hope to our neighbors.
