Andrew (Andy) Tarsy will be awarded the inaugural
Max Michelson Humanitarian Award on May 9, 2018
Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Metrowest is proud to announce that
at JFS’s gala, Seize the Dream.
Max Michelson was mentor, friend, teacher, guiding light to so many of us.
Max-Holocaust survivor, co-founder of JFS, community leader- provided wisdom and hope.
Max inspired each of us to be better, do better, never make excuses, always move forward
He transformed a story of pain and torment into a commitment to justice, to ending pain and suffering and to defending the powerless.
Andy’s strong convictions and uncompromising humanitarian moral compass are a perfect match to the ideals and values of Max Michelson.
Andy is deeply engaged in JFS’s work with refugees and immigrants. Andy consistently supports and vigorously defends people in need. He repeatedly comes to the defense of people when he thought they were being mistreated and harmed, in speaking out about, writing and lecturing about the Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust. He continues to build bridges between the Jewish community and the African American community.
Andy has been personal advisor to the JFS CEO throughout the development of the powerful JFS Syrian Refugee Humanitarian Project. He has been the keynote speaker at the JFS Annual meeting speaking about the “Transformative Power of Volunteerism”. And Andy and his son currently volunteer within the JFS Children’s Backpack and school supply project. Macro, strategic and hands-on—that’s our incredible Andy.
JFS is privileged to honor Andrew Tarsy.
