Earlier this month, Senate President Karen E Spilka held an annual health and wellness fair at Keefe Regional Technical School in Framingham. The fair has been happening each fall for over a decade to offer resources, workshops, and activities on all aspects of wellness.

Many JFS staff members were in attendance including JFS CEO Lino Covarrubias, Ijeoma Anyanwu, Karen Block, Abrielle Salloway, and Laila Vehvilainen. JFS highlighted many programs including Volunteering, Patient Navigator, Allies in Aging, and Geriatric Care Management.

To encourage Older Adult wellness and reduce stress, squishy balls with the JFS logo were given out along with hand exercise handouts. JFS also donated a ‘Fall Gift Basket’ that included a fleece blanket, an assortment of teas, a mug, a gift card to Stop & Shop, and snacks!

Laila Vehvilainen held two ‘pop-up’ workout classes during the fair in the program room. One was a balance class and the other was a stretch and relax class. Both were focused on the bettering of Older Adults and had a great turn out!

Thank you to all of the community partners who made the Karen Spilka Fair a success!
