Yesterday, JFS of Metrowest’s Healthy Aging Initiative and NORC Program joined the Hastings House residents for their weekly Wii Bowling match.
Residents met in the Hastings House’s community room, greeting each other with smiles, snacks, and playful bowling-related trash-talk. For example, without fail, the leading teams announced the score after each frame, feeding into the group’s fun, competitive spirit.
Activities like this encourage residents to leave their apartments and socialize with each other and staff. They also promote physical activity, stimulate conversation, elevate the seniors’ moods, and provide staff with more information about residents’ mental and physical health to support them better.
