For families with limited income, managing the increased financial demands of the cold weather seasons can be a struggle. To help ease the burden and ensure that young students are equipped to safely enjoy being outdoors, particularly during school recess where they can expend their energy and be ready to get back to learning in the classroom, JFS, in collaboration with the Yale Appliance Company, the Yale Appliance Foundation and the Framingham Public Schools, hosted a winter boot distribution event for families at the Farley Middle School. JFS staff and volunteers, Yale Appliance’s employees, and school personnel helped select and size footwear and make sure that each child went home happy.
Working with the family support coordinators across the Framingham Public School system, families most in need were identified and thanks to the generosity of the Yale Appliance Company and the Yale Appliance Foundation, JFS was able to supply winter footwear to over 250 children.
Since 2021, the Yale Appliance Company and the Yale Appliance Foundation have partnered with JFS to ensure that the children of Framingham have the seasonal footwear they need and over 1,500 pairs of shoes and boots have been given away through a combination of annual distribution events and inventory made available through the JFS/FPS Resource Room.
The Yale Appliance Foundation was established to help veterans, the elderly, students, and individuals experiencing homelessness in Boston, South Shore, and Metrowest communities.
“I so value the relationship that FPS has with the entire JFS Team and our growing community of partners! Thank you all for your amazing work in the name of helping others and the wonderful partnership!” -Robert Tremblay Superintendent, Framingham Public Schools
