JFS of Metrowest is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a generous $5,000 donation from Needham Bank to help support its Refugee Rental Subsidy Program. This funding will provide critically needed rental subsidies for low-income refugee families in Needham, who face significant challenges in securing and maintaining stable housing.
As the cost of living continues to rise, many refugee families find themselves dedicating more than 50% of their income to cover rent and utilities, leaving little room to meet other basic needs such as food, healthcare, and transportation. The rising rental costs and shrinking supply of affordable housing in Massachusetts have made it even harder for these families to find a safe, stable home.
For refugee families who have often experienced displacement and trauma, stable housing is not just about providing a roof over their heads; it is about ensuring their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Research has shown that secure housing is foundational to recovery and integration, especially for those who have faced significant hardships in their journey to the U.S.
Needham Bank has been serving the community for over 100 years, supporting initiatives in affordable housing, human services, arts and education, and community development. They are committed to making a meaningful impact through philanthropic efforts, volunteerism, and charitable giving. The partnership between JFS of Metrowest and Needham Bank is an essential step toward alleviating the housing burden faced by these families. Together, we are helping ensure that refugees in Needham have access to the stable housing they need to thrive.
