When families are forced to flee their home countries because of war, violence, or persecution, starting over in a new land can be overwhelming.
Since 1979, JFS has been a lifeline for newly arrived refugees, asylees, and their families — helping them build new lives with dignity and hope. Partnering with faith communities, JFS supports newcomers on their journey to self-sufficiency and belonging.
In 2016, JFS joined forces with Temple Beth Elohim (TBE) to welcome families escaping the war in Syria. Together, they created a powerful model — combining JFS’s expertise with TBE’s dedicated volunteers and resources. Since then, this partnership has helped resettle over 20 families from countries like Venezuela, Ukraine, and Afghanistan.
For those escaping violence and uncertainty, JFS offers more than just support — it offers a community. A place to begin again. A promise that they are not alone.
