It was only through the support of a dedicated network of donors, volunteers, and community partners that JFS has successfully resettled 130 Haitian asylum seekers in the Metrowest and Greater Boston areas.

In celebration of Haitian Heritage Month, JFS proudly acknowledges the strength, resilience, and cultural richness of the Haitian community. This month holds special meaning for us, as we reflect on the privilege of having supported and continuing to support over 50 Haitian families who resettled in the Metrowest and Greater Boston area beginning in August 2023.

These families, initially arriving in Framingham as a group of 12 and quickly growing to 130, came seeking asylum after being displaced by natural disasters, political instability, and unsafe living conditions in their home country. Many arrived after long and difficult journeys through Central America and Mexico, ultimately legally crossing the southern U.S. border in search of safety and opportunity.

JFS, in partnership with local organizations and volunteers, has been honored to help these families rebuild their lives—providing essential resources such as housing support, healthcare navigation, educational assistance, and community integration. The response from the Greater Framingham, Metrowest and Greater Boston communities has been overwhelmingly compassionate, with residents, schools, and faith groups stepping forward to welcome and support our new neighbors.

This Haitian Heritage Month, we celebrate the courage and contributions of our Haitian families and reaffirm our commitment to creating a community where all can thrive in dignity and peace.
