JFS Case Manager Abrielle Salloway and Dan Holin, Founder and Executive Director of Second Chance Cars share a proud moment as a JFS client accepts the keys to her new vehicle.

We are excited to share some wonderful news and celebrate a meaningful milestone for one of our Family Assistance Network (FAN) clients.

A dedicated FAN client was recently awarded a refurbished 2009 Toyota RAV4 through the Second Chance Cars program, an important step forward in her ongoing journey toward stability and independence. For this client, reliable transportation is not simply a convenience; it is a critical resource that supports both her livelihood and her family’s well-being.

Since beginning her work with JFS and case manager Abrielle Salloway in November 2023, this client has made remarkable progress. Through consistent effort and determination, she has secured affordable housing, obtained stable employment, and now gained access to a dependable vehicle. As a single mother to a dependent adult daughter with neurodevelopmental differences, having a car is essential—not only for commuting to work, but also for ensuring her daughter can attend important medical appointments and access needed services.

This achievement reflects far more than the receipt of a vehicle. It represents months of hard work, goal-setting, and perseverance, supported by comprehensive case management and community partnerships. Programs like the JFS Family Assistance Network and Second Chance Cars are designed to remove barriers and create pathways toward long-term self-sufficiency—and this moment is a powerful example of that impact in action.

We extend our heartfelt thanks Second Chance Cars for this opportunity and to Abrielle for her dedication, advocacy, and steady support throughout this client’s journey. Her work, alongside the client’s determination, has helped turn a challenging chapter into one filled with opportunity and forward momentum.

We are proud to walk alongside our clients as they build stability, confidence, and independence—and grateful to our partners and supporters who make stories like this possible.
