Volunteers from The Neighbors Project deliver 100 bags of food collected through the group’s food drive. The donations will be sorted into meal boxes and delivered to families in need. They are pictured here with (from left) JFS CEO Lino Covarrubias and staff member Sarah Leacu.

For many of us, Thanksgiving is a time to gather with family and friends and enjoy an abundance of good food. But for low-income families, this season can also highlight the painful reality of not being able to provide a holiday meal for their loved ones. Many immigrant families face an added layer of fear, hesitant to visit grocery stores or food pantries due to concerns about potential ICE activity, making access to basic resources even more difficult.

To help ensure that no family is left behind during the holiday season, JFS has mobilized our community partners to meet this pressing need.

Thanks to the generosity and commitment of The Neighbors Project, Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland, Temple Beth Shalom in Needham, Temple Isaiah in Lexington, Temple Israel in Natick, and Temple Emunah in Lexington, donation drives are underway to keep the JFS/FPS Resource Room well stocked and volunteers are collecting essential food items that will be organized into holiday food boxes and delivered directly to families who might otherwise go without.

Supporting families in times of need is at the heart of the JFS mission. We are deeply grateful to all who are contributing to this effort and helping ensure that the holiday season is filled with warmth, dignity, and joy for everyone in our community.
