Dear Friends, Supporters, and Community Partners:

As you may have heard, we share hopeful news — and a reminder of our shared responsibility to care for one another.

A federal judge has paused efforts to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians. This means Haitian families who were facing the sudden loss of legal status, work authorization, and stability can breathe — at least for now. This decision offers temporary but deeply meaningful relief to thousands of people who call our communities home.

Behind every policy decision are real human lives. Parents who are working (many of whom are taking care of our aging family members) and children in school – families that are contributing every day to the strength of our Commonwealth. Many have been living under enormous stress, unsure if they would be able to stay in the homes, jobs, and communities they have built.

Our tradition teaches us to care for and protect the stranger — to recognize the humanity, dignity, and worth of those who come seeking safety and opportunity. This moment calls us to live those values.

While this ruling is a step forward, it is not permanent. The future of TPS for Haitians remains uncertain, and families continue to experience fear, emotional strain, and economic instability. The need for compassion, solidarity, and practical support is as urgent as ever.

We remain committed to standing with the Haitian community — providing support, raising funds to assist families facing hardship, and working toward long-term stability and justice. When one part of our community is vulnerable, we are all called to respond.

Now is a time not only for awareness, but for care, generosity, and action. We invite you to join us in this critical and sacred work by considering a directed donation to the Immigrant/Refugee/Asylee Assistance Fund.

Your generosity, compassion, and support make this work possible — thank you for standing with JFS and with our neighbors during these uncertain and challenging times..

With much resolve and gratitude,
