This month, Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Metrowest’s Immigrant Support Group was honored at the MetroWest Health Foundation’s annual meeting with the prestigious Edna Smith Health Equity Award. This recognition highlights the group’s meaningful impact in advancing health equity and supporting immigrant families across the region.
The Edna Smith Health Equity Award is presented to an individual or organization that has gone above and beyond to promote health equity as a central strategy for improving community health. In 2026, JFS of MetroWest was selected as the recipient “in recognition of outstanding leadership in promoting health equity in the MetroWest region.”
Under the leadership of Adam Smith, Senior Director of Innovation and Community Engagement, the JFS team has skillfully convened the Immigrant Support Group over the past year, creating a space where community partners from the nonprofit, faith, and public sectors can share resources, discuss concerns, and collaboratively address challenges. The group’s thoughtful approach to problem-solving and community-building has made a tangible difference in the lives of many, and this award serves as a testament to that impact.
The awards were presented at the Foundation’s annual dinner, where recipients were celebrated by current and former volunteers. It was an evening that not only recognized achievement but also underscored the importance of continued collaboration and commitment to equity in community health.
This honor reflects the dedication of the entire JFS team and the strength of the community they serve. Congratulations to everyone involved in this important and inspiring work.
