With support from the Tufts Health Plan Foundation Momentum Fund, the JFS Patient Navigator program is expanding its reach into the local older adult LGBT+ community to combat the health disparities that effect LGBT+ older adults and breakdown the barriers that these individuals face in health care settings.
JFS of Metrowest seeks LGBT+/LGBT+-Friendly volunteers to serve as Ally Navigators for older adult (60+) LGBT+ Greater Framingham area residents. Volunteers will transport, provide support throughout the medical appointment process and document medical instructions to facilitate improved access to quality medical care for LGBT+ older adults. A Fenway Health Institute led volunteer onboarding training event will be held at JFS’ Framingham office. Volunteers will be provided ongoing supervision and will be reimbursed for program related mileage.
To volunteer, please fill in the requested information on JFS’ volunteer web page https://www.jfsmw.org/JFS_volunteers.html.
