Current mission: Welcoming Displaced Israeli Families to the Metrowest Community
In the tight-knit Needham community, three friends – Amanda Wallack, Elyse Pine, and Melissa Blum – united to launch “Mitzvah Metrowest.” Moved by the ongoing needs in Israel and fueled by their commitment to engage their community and teach their children about doing good deeds (or “mitzvahs”), they embarked on a mission to spread kindness and compassion.
Their first project: partnering with Jewish Family Service of Metrowest to welcome families that are fleeing the conflict in Israel to the Needham and surrounding communities.
The initiative operates under two pillars:
Pillar 1: Donate – We’re raising $36k to support 3 families in their first 3 months of settling into our community.
- School Tuition with Hebrew Speaking Educators
- Mental Health Services with Hebrew Speaking Practitioners
- Temporary Housing
- Case Management from a Social Services Agency
- Financial Support for Home and School Essentials
Pillar 2: Get Involved – welcome families into the community through various social and cultural activities:
- A Big, Warm Communal Hug: Welcoming these families with open arms, including invitations to playdates, Shabbat dinners, community events, and rides/carpools.
- Local Fundraiser Events: Participating in local fundraiser events that not only support the cause but also provide opportunities for the community to come together.
These families need your support now more than ever. 100% of donations will go directly to serving the newly arrived families. Any single gift of $500+ will be matched 1:1 by a generous donor.
