Job Title: Housing Specialist

Salary Range: Commensurate with Level of Education and Experience

Work Schedule: Full-Time

 

Position Description:

Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Metrowest is a Framingham, Massachusetts based non-profit agency that provides vital social, health and community services to alleviate suffering, enhance lives and support people in need. JFS is a multi-cultural, multi-linguistic organization with deep roots in both the Jewish and broader community.

Across the agency JFS clients are facing the challenges of an increasingly difficult housing market.  More and more individuals and families are housing unstable and/or homeless.  This position will work closely with case managers across the agency to identify affordable housing opportunities and provide additional capacity for staff and clients to apply for and secure those opportunities or other rental assistance and housing resources when it they are available.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify all types of affordable housing opportunities (public and private)
    • Develop a system for tracking this information and sharing with agency staff and clients
  • Perform outreach to help identify and secure other apartments through existing or new relationships
    • Help follow up on leads from community members
    • Build relationships with landlords, property managers and staff at housing agencies
  • Provide additional capacity to and expertise to assist with housing applications and accessing housing resources
  • Develop a system for sharing real time housing opportunities and resources with staff and clients
  • Work with other agency staff and volunteers to help clients connect to resources for furnishing apartments once they do have the opportunity to move into a more affordable place

 

Qualifications:                                                                                      

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 3+ years of post-degree work experience
  • Project management experience a plus
  • Volunteer management experience a plus
  • Experience working with landlords/property management groups a plus
  • Annual Influenza (FLU) vaccination and vaccinations against COVID-19 in compliance with CDC recommendations and agency policies
