JFS of Metrowest is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Second Chance Cars (SCC) to connect low income working adults with affordable vehicles so they can maintain living wage jobs and support their families.
SCC is a Massachusetts nonprofit with a mission to mobilize low income Massachusetts veterans, returning citizens (aka the formerly incarcerated) and others to compete for living wage jobs through affordable car ownership. SCC receives candidate referrals from 14 Greater Boston social service agencies, chooses the most qualified candidates, and uses its expertise to solicit and match the most appropriate car for each qualified candidate.
SCC solicits “gently used” car donations from the public and offers in return:
- The highest tax deduction – the car’s retail value
- The most rewarding donor experience – meeting who got your car
- The most impact – getting someone to work
To refurbish its cars, SCC has signed on with three vocational schools–Minuteman, Greater Lawrence, and N.E Metro Tech– who professionally inspect and refurbish SCCs’ cars affordably while educating and empowering students on social justice and community issues.
To receive a car from SCC, an individual must be recommended to the program from one of their partner agencies and meet the criteria set forth by the SCC.
While the need is great and the financial benefits proven, SCC is the only Massachusetts organization that provides affordable cars to working people. JFS is proud to partner with SCC to support the needs of our clients who are struggling to make ends meet so they can maintain gainful employment and work towards stability and self-sufficiency.
Enjoy the tax benefits of donating a gently used car and know that
you are helping wage earners that are on the path to self-sufficiency.
THE NEED IS GREAT – DONATE TODAY
(and tell them JFS of Metrowest sent you!)
