During Framingham State University’s Spring 2024 semester, Child and Family Studies majors in the Community-based Education course have been volunteering their time to Haitian families JFS has been resettling. These students have been coming once a week to play fun/educational games and do some informal ESL practice with the families, both adults and children. This experience is part of an experiential learning piece to the course. The reciprocal relationship with JFS helps students gain powerful experiences and also helps the families have an easier transition into life in the U.S. The families have been eager to learn and engaged in the experience.

A big thank you to Chu Ly’s class at Framingham State University for helping these families feel welcome and comfortable!
