Last week JFS Board Member and Blue Cross Blue Shield Senior Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs, Elana Margolis, along with 18 BCBS employees spent the day with JFS staff helping to pack bags at the JFS Resource Room at Framingham Public Schools. The BCBS employees helped pack bags of seasonal clothing and personal care items for approximately 60 migrant children who are being housed with their families in local Framingham hotels.
Thanks to a generous donation from BJ’s, JFS was able to purchase brand new sweatshirts, pants, long sleeve shirts, and fleece items to ensure that all of the kids are prepared for the change in weather. All of the personal care items supplied in these bags were made available thanks to our long-standing partnership with Hope & Comfort. Once the BCBS employees finished packing each bag, they wrote handwritten notes with words of welcome and encouragement.
Many of the children staying at the local Framingham hotels are also attending Framingham Public Schools. This event exemplifies the importance of collaborative partnerships in order for JFS to serve newcomers and vulnerable families in the Metrowest community and beyond! Representative Jack Lewis also stopped by to pack some bags and show his support for these families and JFS of Metrowest.
We are grateful for companies like BCBS who understand how important it is to partner with local organizations to alleviate suffering, enhance lives and support people in need.
