Job Title: Registered Nurse

Hours: Minimum of 5 hours per week, with additional hours scheduled as needed based on program requirements.

Schedule: Very flexible, most work can be scheduled between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays, Mon-Fri.

Location: JFS office, 475 Franklin Street, Framingham, MA 01702 and in the homes of clients served (Framingham, Ashland, Natick, Marlborough and surrounding towns in greater Metrowest area)

Position Description: The JFS Homecare program is growing and JFS seeks to hire a Registered Nurse (RN) to ensure compliance with state regulations, including supervision of direct service providers in the field. The RN will provide no direct RN medical care as part of this position.

The ideal candidate is a compassionate and caring individual who has daytime availability to meet with direct service staff in the homes of medically-compromised, low-income older adults. Great opportunity to supplement income. Retired nurses invited to apply!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct supervisory visits with Personal Care Homemaker staff in clients’ homes on a quarterly basis and as needed (e.g., new client enrollments or staff assignment changes).
  • Coordinate and maintain a schedule of required supervisory visits to ensure timely compliance with state and program requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with direct service staff—including many who are English Language Learners—to coordinate supervisory visit scheduling and provide clear, accessible guidance. Support is available from office staff fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, as well as through translation tools when needed.
  • Review and evaluate client care plans during supervisory visits, addressing any questions or concerns from staff or clients.
  • Complete all required documentation following each supervisory visit, including:
    • Online supervisory reports
    • State-mandated paper supervisory forms
  • Ensure signed care plans are accurately completed and submitted to contract holders via email.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate client and staff records, including tracking completion of quarterly supervisory visits.
  • Communicate any concerns regarding client care or staff performance to office staff, along with appropriate recommendations.
  • Assess client needs and recommend adjustments to service hours or additional evaluations as appropriate.
  • Perform client assessments when there are concerns regarding health, safety, or overall well-being.
  • Conduct TB screenings for direct service staff as required.
  • Assist with audits and respond to requests for documentation or information from contract holders.
  • Collaborate with office staff to support program operations and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

  • Each supervisory visit typically requires approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, including direct supervision, travel (round trip to the client’s home from the office), and documentation.

Requirements:

  • Valid state of Massachusetts RN License
  • Must provide proof of individual professional liability insurance
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • In good health, TB screening mandatory
  • Fluent in English/good communications skills; multilingual a plus (Spanish and/or Portuguese)
  • (2) work references in the healthcare industry
  • Must enjoy working with the older adult population
  • Able to think critically and solve problems in real time, with a flexible schedule to accommodate short-notice supervisory requests.

Compensation:

  • $45.00/hour
  • Reimbursement for travel miles from JFS
  • Employees are eligible for referral bonuses when they refer new home care team members who remain actively employed for at least three months following their start date.
  • Employees are eligible to enroll in the agency’s 403(b) retirement plan, which includes an annual employer match as approved by the Board of Directors.
